The free at-home COVID-19 testing program will be reinitiated at the end of September as officials prepare for the Fall/Winter season. The federal government is set to resume its program, providing complimentary at-home COVID tests to all U.S. households, with deliveries made directly to residences. Each household in the United States will be eligible to order four free at-home tests, which are capable of detecting infections from currently circulating variants.
Additionally, O’Connell, the assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services, stated that Paxlovid, an antiviral medication used to treat COVID-19 infections in individuals at risk of hospitalization, will also be available at no cost for those covered by Medicare and Medicaid, as well as for individuals who are uninsured.
